Plain-language summary: Your saved memory records and private photo copies are stored in Recall AI's private area on your Android device. Account authentication is provided by Firebase and therefore sends account information to Google. If you use an available Recall AI Assist feature, the image or memory text needed for that request is sent to Google's Firebase AI services. Recall AI does not include advertising, analytics, location tracking, or cloud memory backup.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the Recall AI Android application published by Snohobbie Labs ("Snohobbie Labs," "we," "us," or "our"). Recall AI helps people save photos with titles, notes, categories, and reminders so they can find and act on important information later.
This policy describes the current release implementation. Features described as optional or subscription-based are processed only when they are available and used. Recall AI does not currently provide cloud backup or multi-device synchronization for saved memories.
2. Information we process
Account and profile information
Your preferred name, email address, Firebase user identifier, authentication status, and profile changes. Firebase Authentication processes account creation, sign-in, password reset, password changes, and account deletion. Recall AI does not store your Firebase password in readable form.
Saved memories
Titles, notes, categories, creation and update dates, completion status, reminder dates, and private copies of photos you choose or capture. These are stored locally and scoped to the local account owner.
Profile photo and preferences
An optional profile photo, notification preference, text-size choice, high-contrast setting, onboarding status, floating-assistant preference, and local session information.
Reminder information
The reminder time, associated memory identifier, completion state, and local scheduling metadata needed to deliver notifications and restore eligible reminders after a device restart or app update.
Subscription and purchase information
Google Play product details, purchase state, entitlement state, and an obfuscated one-way hash of the local account identifier used when launching an official Play purchase flow. Google Play handles payment details; Snohobbie Labs does not receive your full card number through the app.
App-integrity information
Firebase App Check uses Google Play Integrity in the release app. Google may process app, device, and integrity signals to verify that requests come from an authentic app installation and to help prevent abuse.
Support communications
If you choose Contact Support, Recall AI opens an installed email app with the support address and subject. You decide whether to send the message and what information to include.
Information Recall AI does not request
The current release does not request location, microphone, contacts, or broad photo-library permissions. It uses Android's Photo Picker for photos you select and an installed camera app for photos you choose to capture. Recall AI contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or crash-reporting SDK.
3. Recall AI Assist
Recall AI includes code for optional intelligent features powered through Firebase AI Logic using Google's Vertex AI service. These features may require an active Recall AI Pro entitlement and service availability.
- Image suggestions: when you request or use automatic title and category suggestions, a scaled copy of the selected image is sent to the AI service for that request.
- Conversational memory search: when you submit a conversational question, the question and up to 200 locally stored memory identifiers, titles, notes, and categories may be sent so the service can return matching local memory identifiers.
- Local fallback: ordinary title, note, and category search works locally. You can save and organize memories without using Recall AI Assist.
Snohobbie Labs does not intentionally create a separate cloud archive of AI request content. Google may process and retain request data according to the terms and policies that apply to Firebase AI Logic and Vertex AI. Do not submit information to Recall AI Assist that you do not want processed by that provider.
4. How we use information
- Provide account registration, authentication, session restoration, and password reset.
- Save, display, search, update, complete, and delete memories on your device.
- Schedule and deliver reminders you choose to create.
- Provide optional AI suggestions or conversational search when requested and available.
- Check Recall AI Pro availability and entitlement through Google Play.
- Protect the service, verify genuine app requests, troubleshoot failures, and prevent abuse.
- Respond to support or privacy requests you send to us.
We do not sell personal information and do not use saved memories or photos for third-party advertising.
5. Local storage and security
Memory records are stored in an app-private SQLite database. Memory photos and profile photos are stored in app-private internal storage. Android application sandboxing and device encryption help protect those files, but the photos and SQLite rows are not separately encrypted by Recall AI.
The local account link, session, and preferences use AES-GCM encryption with a key held by Android Keystore. Memory operations are scoped by local account identifier, and Recall AI prevents a different Firebase account from silently claiming another local owner's memories.
Network requests to Firebase and Google services use encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your device lock and Android security updates enabled.
6. Service providers and disclosures
Recall AI relies on Google services for specific functions:
- Firebase Authentication for account and password operations.
- Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity for app-integrity and abuse protection.
- Firebase AI Logic and Vertex AI for optional Recall AI Assist requests.
- Google Play Billing for subscription product details, purchases, restoration, and subscription management.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. Review the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase Privacy and Security information.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not share locally stored memories because Snohobbie Labs does not receive them unless you use a feature that explicitly sends relevant content off-device.
7. Retention and deletion
- Local memories, images, and settings remain on the device until you delete them, delete the account in the app, or remove app data.
- Deleting an individual memory removes its database row and associated private image after confirmation.
- Deleting your account in Recall AI first requests deletion of the signed-in Firebase Authentication account. After that succeeds, Recall AI deletes that account's local memory rows and image files, profile photo, scheduled reminders, and encrypted local account information.
- Google may retain limited authentication, security, AI-processing, or transaction records as required for security, legal, billing, and compliance purposes.
- Deleting Recall AI does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription. Subscriptions must be managed separately through Google Play.
8. Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete memories, change profile information, disable Recall AI notifications in the app or Android settings, avoid optional AI features, manage a subscription through Google Play, sign out without deleting memories, or request account deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or information about personal data we control. Contact us from the email associated with your Recall AI account so we can verify the request. We cannot remotely access or delete memory files that exist only on your device.
9. Children's privacy
Recall AI is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in their country to consent to online services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child without appropriate authorization. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided account information may contact us to request review and deletion.
10. International processing
Google and other infrastructure providers may process account, integrity, billing, and optional AI request information in countries other than your own. Data-protection laws may differ in those locations. We use service providers and safeguards appropriate to the services described in this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Recall AI's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through another appropriate channel.
